Published Date: 10/05/2019

Decathlon Group, one of the world’s largest retailers and manufacturers of sports goods, has leased 1,900 square meters in Eden Park Handlowy in Zgorzelec (Poland). The opening of the new sports goods store is scheduled for autumn 2019.

Work started at Eden Park in January 2019 to transform an older style gallery into a modern retail park. Decathlon will anchor the refurbished scheme alongside a number of new fashion and home goods retailers.

“Our vision for Eden Park is to provide a retail offer based on international brands. Immediately after our purchase of Eden, we decided to invest 1.5 million Euros in repositioning of the gallery to a genuine retail park format. The challenge has been in adapting the building to a new format and management concept to produce a quality tenant offer and improve the value of the asset. We have practically managed to put this idea into effect, ”- Maksym Shkolnyk, Partner of the Focus Estate Fund, commented on the deal.

Asset Construction, a Kiev contractor, won the tender for the works contract which will improve the efficiency of the existing building resulting in an improvement of net leasable space.

The refurbished park, which is located close to the A4 motorway and the international border with Germany will be well placed to attract customers not only from Zgorzelec but also from Görlitz, and other towns on both sides of the border.

The new Decathlon Zgorzelec will be their 55th store to open in Poland and will offer more than 25 thousand items of goods and about 30 brands.

Eden Park Handlowy is the third shopping center that Focus Estate Fund has acquired in Poland over the past two years.
